And what about Portugal – holidays in Viana do Castelo and surroundings? The North of Portugal is much more beautiful than I could ever imagine.
I needed to rest. I needed to change the environment. Go to the mainland. When I found good tickets to Porto, the decision was obvious – I’m going!
I didn’t have any detailed plans. I only knew that straight from the airport I’m going to the area of Viana do Castelo, I will have a place to stay (thank you!) and that I want to “clear up my mind”. I didn’t know how much time exactly I would stay there, what I would be doing and, most of all, that this area would delight me so much!
The weather was kind to me.
28 degrees in a shadow. Heat that I’ve already almost forgotten. But thanks to that, one small luggage filled up mainly with shorts, shirts and bikini was enough. Supposedly, in summer time in the region Minho (that’s the name of that area) it’s enough. Plus something warm for the night. It’s not Poland, summer nights are chilly there, sometimes even cold.
And as we’re already talking about weather – in summer it’s hot, in winter it’s cold. Really cold. The temperature around 0 degrees is a standard. I know, it’s nothing in comparison with -15, but consider the fact that there’s no central heating in Portugal. The owners of the houses with fireplaces are really lucky. So if you wanted to go there during winter time – it’s better to wrap yourselves up.
These were my holidays.
I needed them desperately. Yes, even if you live in the Azorean paradise, sometimes you have to change the climate. Get away from the everyday rhythm, from the already consolidated way of thinking. Travelling develops us, it lets us see life from a different perspective.
And of course, I was also looking from the camera perspective. I was taking photos privately, just for me. I didn’t consider for a moment showing them on the blog. But when I came back, I realized that I wanted to share my delight with you. That the North of Portugal is so beautiful that it would be good if you also could get to know it. I’ve already posted some photos on my profiles on Instagram and Facebook, and you have some more below. And who knows – maybe you get inspired for your next holidays?
